Airdrive Design

The AIRDRIVE DESIGN is the new construction concept developed to improve fixed-spool reels by optimizing their lightness, smoothness and reducing their rotational inertia without compromising their strength.

It is based on redesigning the pivotal components of the reels:

  • AIRDRIVE ROTOR
The new rotor, with a design aimed at reducing rotational inertia, maintains solidity and strength while weighing less than the previous Air Rotor, thanks to significant structural improvements.
  • AIRDRIVE BAIL
An evolution of the famous Air Bail, the Airdrive Bail headband is thinner, lighter and yet durable. Its inclination has also been revised so as to improve the sliding of the thread toward the roller.
The latest innovation regarding the headband is the AIRDRIVE BAIL – solid version , which is lighter than its predecessor (8%) and more resistant to stress: the durability and strength over time of the mechanism
of openness is increased by more than double.
  • AIRDRIVE SHAFT
New Airdrive Shaft minimizes friction and power loss, ensuring smooth and quiet rotation; Main Shaft, supported by special collars, moves without contact with the sprocket, differentiating it from traditional systems.
  • AIRDRIVE SPOOL
Coil optimized for weight and functionality: weight reduction for better swing, anti-wire kink deflector, and revised clicker mechanism for sharper sound.

The various components of the AIRDRIVE DESIGN may be present on new Daiwa reels all or in part depending on the model.
