Exactly ten years after the last generation and with a legendary history dating back to the 1980s, DAIWA presents the all-new BG 2026. This iconic series has been completely revamped, bringing together the rich heritage of the name under a single, extensive lineup ranging from size 3000 all the way up to the massive size 20,000.
The true revolution introduced by DAIWA lies in the clear and targeted categorization of lines based on their intended use and the reel’s design. Our pursuit of maximum synergy between angler and equipment has driven us to eliminate any compromises in the field. From this philosophy emerge two distinct lines, designed to meet different usage needs with millimeter-level precision: the LT (Light & Tough) line and the SW (Saltwater Heavy Duty) line.
This structural diversity addresses specific practical needs. For shore-based fishing or medium-to-light tackle setups, the priority is a lightweight design capable of ensuring prolonged comfort and maximum freedom of movement. In contrast, the SW line is engineered to offer oversized, ultra-rugged reel bodies—essential for battling the most tenacious fish.

The BG SW is a true fighting machine. A reel designed with a single goal in mind: to withstand the most extreme marine conditions, repeated casts with heavy braided lines, and the devastating runs of prey such as tuna, skipjack, amberjack, and grouper.
How does it perform when fishing? While the LT model’s strengths lie in its maneuverability and smoothness, the BG SW brings its full Torque and Traction. The reel’s body is noticeably more robust because it houses a massive drive wheel, derived from SALTIGA’s top-of-the-line models. When you’re reeling in a large fish that’s desperately trying to reach the bottom, you’ll feel an incredible sense of power: the structure eliminates any flex, and the oversized gears work in perfect synergy, ensuring a crucial reserve of torque and traction during the most critical moments of a fight.
The POWERDRIVE rotor and solid bail are oversized and ultra-rigid. This means that when you engage the carbon drag (which is extremely powerful and progressive) and make a powerful cast, there is absolutely no loss of energy. Furthermore, the BG SW is well protected against one of the worst enemies of all reels: salt water. A rubber gasket is fitted around the perimeter of the body’s side plate to prevent water intrusion, while other specialized gaskets seal off the handle and main shaft. Finally, the new oval “Egg-shape” knobs provide a secure grip even with wet hands.
Ideal for: Those who do heavy spinning, vertical fishing, or offshore popping, or who need an indestructible reel for hunting large pelagic fish.
POWERDRIVE ROTOR
The POWERDRIVE-concept rotor achieves a high degree of symmetry and excellent balance relative to the axis of rotation, offering high rigidity against heavy loads and external forces.
POWER BAIL (Manual Closure)
Thanks to the shape of the headband—which features a pronounced curve (crank) with an optimal angle—and the reinforced spring mechanism, it reliably guides the taut line toward the line guide roller, preventing accidental opening or closing.
ALUMINUM BODY
Thanks to its extraordinary stiffness, which minimizes deformation under heavy loads, it transmits the applied force without any loss. It offers consistent retrieval performance and exceptional durability, even when fighting large fish.
ATD TOUGH (Carbon Discs)
The ATD drag engages smoothly, accommodating the fish’s run and continuing to engage progressively. The ATD TOUGH version features carbon washers to ensure long-lasting durability. Designed for maximum initial smoothness and adaptability, it allows you to focus on the fight without having to worry about drag adjustments.
WATERPROOF PACKING
A series of gaskets protects the BG SW’s internal mechanisms: one gasket seals the entire perimeter of the body’s side plate, and other rubber gaskets are fitted to the throttle connection and to protect the shaft.
EGG-SHAPED KNOB – HIGH-GRIP
Features a new rounded egg-shaped knob that is easy to grip and slip-resistant.

STOPPERLESS BODY
By removing the non-return valve (stopper), the body’s design has been simplified and streamlined. By eliminating this lever—which is one of the main entry points for water and foreign objects—not only is waterproofing significantly improved, but the risk of sudden malfunctions or problems is minimized.
MANUAL BAIL
With the aim of completely preventing the bow from closing accidentally during the cast and of improving its long-term durability, a manual return mechanism has been implemented that prevents the bow from closing automatically when the crank is turned.
PERFECT LINE STOPPER
A wire clip designed to accommodate a wide range of diameters, from ultra-thin to thicker wires. ⚠ The wire clip is only available on sizes 5000–6000.

26 BG LT
Lightweight, control, and sensitivity for “medium-light” spinning
The BG LT is a reel designed for anglers who see fishing as a dynamic and precise activity. It is designed for inland waters (targeting pike, trout, or perch) and for inshore spinning from the shore (targeting sea bass or bluefish with medium-sized lures).
How does it perform when fishing? It feels incredibly solid and powerful, yet just as easy to handle and smooth. The first thing that stands out is how little effort is needed to get the rotor moving: thanks to the new Airdrive Rotor design, inertia is minimized, and the lure starts moving as soon as you begin to turn the handle. This translates to incredible sensitivity: you can feel every single vibration of the lure and every slightest nibble from a fish, even from a great distance.
Despite its compact design, at its core it remains a BG: the body is made entirely of aluminum, making it very rigid and resistant to bending, while the crank screws directly into the body, eliminating even the slightest amount of play and transmitting power extremely efficiently.
