SEABORG 300JL
Seaborg 300JL Tough Light Monster: an electric reel featuring a MAGMAX-G motor, HYPERDRIVE DESIGN technology, and weighing just 570g. The perfect balance of comfort, power, and responsiveness.
The power lever has been moved to the center of the reel body and redesigned in a jog dial style, allowing you to control the retrieve and engage/disengage the drag using only the thumb of the hand holding the rod. This completely frees up the other hand, which can then focus exclusively on handling the barrel.
One-finger control allows for precise and immediate adjustments, making for an extremely smooth and natural recovery process
Thanks to DAIWA’s proprietary technology, we were the first in the world to seal ball bearings with Magsealed.
A magnetic liquid barrier prevents water and impurities from entering the bearing, preserving its original smoothness and significantly reducing rust, salt deposits, and abnormal noises.
Equipped with special neodymium magnets, this slip-ring motor is designed to deliver maximum responsiveness and durability.
It delivers explosive power when needed, but also offers perfect control at low speeds, making it ideal for a slow, gradual recovery.
Compared to the previous MAGMAX, its lifespan is four times longer.
The ATD drag responds progressively to the fish’s runs, smoothly following its movements without any jerks. With a whopping 16 kg of Max Drag, it allows anglers to focus on the fight without worrying about the line breaking. It includes an electronic thread-pull indicator with 3 different tone settings (or can be turned off).
■ Design and Ergonomics
A compact, aerodynamic body weighing just 570 g with no visible screws, designed to offer maximum maneuverability and total comfort while fishing.
■ New Aluminum JOG Lever
A contoured, knurled lever that optimizes thumb grip, allowing for precise speed adjustments and gear changes even when wearing gloves or with wet hands.
■ Magsealed Bearings
Shielded bearings mounted on the spool shaft to keep salt out and ensure the reel continues to run smoothly over time.
■ MAGMAX-G Motor
An ultra-durable, warranty-backed motor (3 years/300 km) with a lifespan four times longer than average, capable of delivering exceptional torque even at very low speeds.
■ Fall Brake Ring
A 180° control system that instantly adjusts the bait’s sinking speed with your thumb, eliminating false bites and improving sensitivity to bites as the bait sinks.
■ Dot-Matrix LCD Display
An anti-glare screen with large text, intuitive menus, and a 0.0 safety lock to eliminate the risk of tip breakage.
■ Adjustable-length crank (70–80 mm)
A flexible interface that allows you to adjust the crank arm spacing from 70 mm—for faster operation—to 80 mm—for maximum retrieval power
■ Drag synchronized with the engine
A smart mechanism that shuts off the engine when the drag is disengaged and restarts it instantly when the drag is reengaged, maximizing responsiveness during downshifts.
■ HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR Gears
A built-in drive system designed to maintain smooth, consistent rotation over time, even during manual retrieval under extreme loads.
■ Oversized line guide for shock leaders
A line guide with an inner diameter of 3.0 mm designed to allow thick knots—such as the FG knot—to slide through easily, ideal for heavy jigging for tuna and amberjack.
■ Technical Notes
* Average speed measured with a 13 V power supply and a 1 kg load.
The winding capacity listed is for reference only and may vary depending on the line manufacturer, the actual diameter, and the winding tension.
The maximum regenerative power is a reference value determined with a 13 V supply and measured based on the torque delivered to the drive shaft.
The continuous retrieve speed is the average speed at which 100 m of line is retrieved with a 1 kg load and a 13 V power supply.
JAFS (Japan Fishing Tackle Manufacturers Association) values are obtained in accordance with the official standard of the Japanese fishing tackle industry, using a 13 V power supply.
The JAFS speed is the recovery speed of an unloaded, empty spool, measured at the spool’s outer diameter.
■ Power Supply
The Seaborg 300J is designed to operate on a DC power supply ranging from 12 V to 16.8 V.
Do not use incompatible power supplies, such as:
Using non-compliant power sources may compromise the reel’s proper operation and trigger the electronic protection systems, causing the reel to stop or operate irregularly. To achieve maximum performance and ensure the system’s full reliability, Daiwa recommends using batteries specifically designed for electric reels.
■ Releasing the spool (Removing the frame / Lowering into the water)
■ Spool Lock (Reaches the bottom / Stops at the desired height)
■ Retrieval using the JOG command (Positioning at depth / Baiting or “luring” / Hooking / Retrieving the line)
■ One-Pitch Jerk
This replicates the orthodox single-pitch retrieve (a single “jerk” of the rod combined with one turn of the reel handle).
■ One-Pitch Pause
: Repeats pattern 1 (One-Pitch Jerk), alternating it with stop (stay) pauses.
■ Combi Jerk
Repeats a combination of linear retrieval (tadamaki) and the jerk motion from Pattern 1.
