The history of Daiwa
Ever since the first Daiwa reel was born back in 1958, our sole mission has been to provide enthusiasts around the world with the best sport fishing products ever made. Development of new materials
It is no accident that Daiwa was the first brand in the world to employ carbon fiber in its products. As early as 1979, he began developing composite materials and integrating graphite for both the body and rotor of his reels, eventually leading, after decades of research and improvements, to the creation of Zaion-a revolutionary material with never-before-seen characteristics of lightness and strength.
In 2010, carbon research led to the development of “Z-SVF,” a special high-density carbon with reduced resin input, used by Daiwa on its best, lightest fishing rods on the market.
Magsealed: a new technological frontier.
In 2010 Daiwa introduced for the first time to the world of fishing reels a technology that until then had been the preserve of aerospace engineering: magsealed. Based on the use of a special magnetized oil, this technology makes it possible to protect the internal mechanics of the reels from exogenous agents, incredibly increasing reliability and longevity.

Catch & Release
Daiwa supports Catch&Release. When you catch a fish make sure your hands are wet before you touch it. You will prevent dry hands from damaging the fish’s protective mucus and consequently lowering its immune defenses. If the hook has penetrated deep into the fish’s mouth, it is essential to remove it using appropriate pliers.
