The absolute top for modern surf-casting: the 26 TOURNAMENT BASIA SURF 45 SCW QD represents the pinnacle of Daiwa’s technological research in Big Pit reel development.
A reel designed to maximize casting distance, with a unique user feel and even better balance than the previous generation.
The spool has been significantly enlarged, as has the rotor. In fact, for the first time on a Surfcasting reel, the new AIRDRIVE design is used for the rotor: its structure is inspired by a sphere, maximizing strength and minimizing rotational inertia.
The result is a reel with inimitable smoothness and great lightness: the body and rotor are in fact made of ZAION. It is a unique carbon composite developed by Daiwa to achieve metal-like structural rigidity while at the same time being extremely light in weight.
Smoothness has been further increased by as many as 11 bearings (2 more than before), while recovery power has also been upgraded: from 10 to as much as 15 kg compared to the previous generation.

Technologies
AIRDRIVE ROTOR
This significant increase in spool size led to the development of the largest rotor ever made by Daiwa for a Big Pit reel. Strength, balance and smoothness are provided by the innovative AIRDRIVE rotor made of ZAION.
AIRDRIVE BAIL
The new AIRDRIVE BA IL headband uses a small-diameter hollow structure, which allows a significant reduction in overall weight without compromising rigidity and strength.
MAGSEALED
Magsealed technology, the special magnetized oil membrane, an exclusive Daiwa technology, is applied to the sprocket area of the body. This helps to preserve the internal mechanics from salt and dirt penetration.
TWIST BUSTER III
Daiwa’s famous Twist Buster thread guide roller, now in its third generation, has improved in performance and smoothness. A new design with an additional internal groove, further improves line glide and reduces the possibility of tangles. In the new 26 Tournament Basia the TB 3 has been equipped with as many as 2 ball bearings.
HIGH IMPACT-LINE CLIP
Shock-absorbing metal line clip: the High Impact Line Clip is most useful in those situations where there is a need to cast repeatedly at the same distance (for example, once a spot has been located with fish standing in the school).
ULTRA BIG PIT SPOOL
The new model features a completely redesigned and enlarged 45 mm spool. The diameter increased by 10% with a very slight taper of only 2°
SCW – Slow Cross Wrap
Slow Cross Wrap, is Daiwa’s famous slow cross winding system: it optimizes the arrangement of the line on the spool, improving the exit phase and reducing friction during casting.
This results in greater distance, better thread stability and reduced tangles even in difficult conditions with strong winds.

Bolted crank design eliminates any mechanical play, ensuring stable, precise and direct recovery
QD – QUICK DRAG
The QD (Quick Drag) system allows the drag to be adjusted to a condition close to free spool. The preset calibration can be restored with less than a full turn of the knob, allowing quick reaction to powerful escapes and instant drag adjustment. In addition, the maximum drag value has been increased from 10 kg to 15 kg, offering more power when fishing for large carp.
The drag discs are made of high-strength carbon, which can maintain consistent and reliable performance even in wet conditions.
